Abstract According to mechanical principle, experiments were conducted on the integrated mast, which is enclosed, to research on its stress under ship sway by using an inverted model method. The experimental results correspond with the numerical calculation results well. This paper summarized the variation of the stress response of mast’s structure with the period and amplitude of the ship sway by analyzing the measurement results in a large number of working conditions. The research aims to provide reliable reference data for the structure design of newstyle mast, and to provide a new idea for the structure experiment of the ship mast.
