Intelligent Control of Fused Magnesium Furnaces Based on SPSA |

Abstract The adjustment of electrode currents for smelting process of fused magnesium furnace depends manual control mainly and the control effect is very poor, the currents fluctuation is very huge which leads to the instability of the product quality and great energy waste. As such, an intelligent control strategy was developed for fused magnesium furnace. The neural network controller based on SPSA algorithm and another controller based on rulebased reasoning were designed respectively according to different states. The electrode currents can be controlled automatically and the energy consumption is reduced based on the intelligent control strategy. The proposed control system is applied in a magnesium plant and the result shows its validity and effectiveness.
