| Shield Type Selection and Its Control on Tunneling Across Various Structures |

Abstract Based on massive shield crossing engineering projects in Shanghai, the selection of shield types, small disturbance control parameters as well as the stress and displacement distribution during shield crossing metro lines, sensitive structures, shallow foundations and pile foundations, were thoroughly investigated. The deformation control parameters and the correspondent construction control measures were put forward. The critical spacing between shield and pile toe was proposed based on the study on stress distribution at the level of pile toe.
