Abstract Accurate flow curve of materials is the prerequisite of sound simulation of metal forming. Inverse analysis can be applied to identify larger strain range of flow curve by room temperature compression of small cylinder specimen cut from medium-thick plate. Common flow curve models, such as Ludwig model, Swift model and Voce++ model, were used in inverse analysis and sensitive analysis in this paper. The result shows that Swift model is accurat, efficient and robust for initial input in inverse analysis.
