    Translational medicine strives to enhance cognition in aging and clinical populations through technological advancements. Researchers have pinpointed brain circuits and networks pivotal to cognition, with various studies highlighting invasive and non-invasive brain stimulation techniques widely employed to regulate sensory, cognitive, and motor functions across both local and large networks. This special issue aims to showcase pioneering studies in psychology, neuroscience, and psychiatry, along with innovative investigations into neural mechanisms, paving the way for personalized neuromodulation of cognitive functions.

    Journal Introduction

     

    General Psychiatry (GPsych), formerly Shanghai Psychiatry, established in 1959, is a bimonthly journal and the sole English-language publication focusing on psychiatry and psychology in mainland China. Hosted by the Shanghai Mental Health Center and published in collaboration with the BMJ British Medical Journal Publishing Group, GPsych stands as the premier English-language psychiatric journal in mainland China.

     

    Professor Xu Yifeng, Director of the Brain Health Research Institute at the Shanghai Mental Health Center, serves as Editor-in-Chief, while Professor Chen Jinghong serves as Executive Editor-in-Chief. GPsych primarily disseminates original research, novel methodologies, and case reports pertinent to the neuroscience of psychiatry and brain diseases. Featured columns include biostatistical research on mental diseases, meta-analysis systematic reviews, thematic forums, and brain science research relating to psychiatric and mental health.

     

    In May 2019, the journal was included in the ESCI database, as well as PubMed Central, SCOPUS, and other prestigious databases. Additionally, it holds the esteemed status of being a core journal in the CSCD and Statistical Source in China. In 2019, the journal was selected for the Action Plan for Excellence in Chinese Science and Technology Journals, earning prestigious titles such as "China's Internationally Influential Outstanding Academic Journal" and "China's Internationally Influential Academic Journals" for six consecutive years, spanning from 2016 to 2023.

     

    The latest impact factor, JCR Impact Factor (JIF), announced by Corevision in 2023, soared to an impressive 11.9 points, marking the journal's highest score and positioning it among the world's top 500 journals. Furthermore, the latest CiteScore from the Scopus database stands at 18.9, placing it within the top 1.5% of international journals in its category. The CiteScore Tracker for 2023 has even reached an outstanding 22 points.

     

    As the sole English-language journal in the field of psychiatry in mainland China, General Psychiatry warmly welcomes experts and scholars in the field to actively submit refereed manuscripts and new literature citations.
