Abstract In order to accurately evaluate the bit error rate(BER) of DSUWB systems with narrowband interference suppressor, a method based on characteristic function (CF) is proposed for precisely calculating the BER of DSUWB systems using twosided transversal filters for rejection of single tone interference. We derive a mathematical expression called interference suppression factor of twosided transversal filters. In addition, theory analyses show that with sufficiently large tap number, the tone interference could be almost cancelled totally. The simulation and numerical results validate the accuracy and effectiveness of analytical BER derivations.
