Die Face Correction Method for Springback Compensation of Sheet Metal Incremental Air-Bending Forming |

Abstract There exist errors between the made workpieces and the CAD models owing to the springback of sheet metal incremental airbending forming. To reduce these errors, three die face correction methods for singlestep stamping (displacement adjustment method, DAM; smooth displacement adjustment method, SDAM; deformation transfer function method, DTFM) were applied to the multiplestep incremental airbending forming. With these methods, the die surfaces of sheet metal incremental airbending forming are properly corrected to compensate for springback. It is manifested by the experimental results of workpieces formed with three different die face correction algorithms that the die face correction method of closedloop forming based on experimental iteration can effectively improve the forming accuracy of workpieces.
