Abstract A numerical method was put up forward to simulate ship bubbly wake. The free surface around a model-scaled KRISO(Korean research institute of ship and ocean engineering) container ship (KCS) was first numerically simulated through the volume of fluid two-phase model imbedded in general computational fluid dynamics(CFD) code FLUENT. Then in order to simulate the bubbly wake around KCS hull, the under-water flow field was computed based on the mixture multiphase model with a rigid-lid-free-surface method. The Realizable k-ε two-equation turbulence model and Reynolds stress model were used to analyze the effects of turbulence model on the bubbly ship wake. The air entrainment model that is relative to the normal velocity gradient of the free surface, and the solving method are justified by the qualitatively reasonable computed results.
