Abstract Functionalized poly (caprolactone) diol (PCL-Diol) end capped with five-membered cyclic carbonate (PCL-2GC) was synthesized from PCL-Diol, succinic anhydride and glycerol-1, 2-carbonate. The relative molecular mass and its distribution of linear polyhydroxyurethanes (PHU) prepared from the reaction of PCL-2GC with 1,6-hexanediamine decrease as the reaction time and the dosage of amine increase, while first increase with increasing PCL-2GC concentration and reaction temperature and then decrease. The heat-resistance temperature of PHU is 30—40 ℃ higher than traditional polyurethane with analogous structure. The crystallization and thermal stability of crosslinked PHU/SiO2 polymers decrease with the increase of crosslink density. The amorphous SiO2 is homodispersed in the matrix of PHU/SiO2 polymers characterized from X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscope (SEM).
