Abstract To gain the optimum control regularity of the constant runout control system, the kinetic simulation for MK7-3 arresting gear was completed and the control valve flow area of the constant runout was optimized using Hicks-Henne shape function and the steepest descent method. Finally, kinetic simulation of different weights, engaged speeds and thrusts indicates that different aircrafts can be arrested at a constant distance and that the loads on wires and the acceleration of aircrafts are proper, showing the validity and the safety of the optimized control regularity.
