Abstract A new Planar Element Method based on the imagesource method was developed to calculate the target strength of vessels on the water surface. According to “Blueprint gallery of Chinese steel fish vessel” published by the Ministry of Agriculture, the 3D digital model for six kind of different size fish vessels was established by using UG software. The results can provide references for the design of naval ships.
