Drag Reduction Mechanism of Hydrophobic Surface Based on Low Surface Energy Effect |

Abstract The drag characteristic of vehicle models with hydrophobic surface was investigated by water tunnel experiment for the application of hydrophobic surface on flow drag reduction. The drag characteristic curves and excess 30% experimental drag reduction effect were acquired. The results of surface energy speciality analysis indicate that the-C-Si hydrophobic fragments bring about low surface energy effect of hydrophobic surface, which is an efficient reason that hydrophobic surface possesses drag reduction effect.
