From May 29 to 31, 2026, the 2026 China Biomedical Engineering Conference (BME2026) was held at the Suzhou International Expo Center. The Medical-Engineering Interdisciplinary Journal Alliance of SJTU, together with its member journals, made a collective presentation at the event, highlighting the achievements of its member journals while using the conference as a platform for networking, collaboration, and broader engagement within the global academic community.
As the largest and most influential annual academic event in China’s biomedical engineering society, BME2026 brought together experts and scholars from universities, research institutes, hospitals and industry. Coordinated by the SJTU Journal Center, the Alliance brings together high-quality journals at the intersection of medicine and engineering, creating a collaborative platform that promotes academic exchange, strengthens publishing partnerships, and supports the sustainable development of its member journals.
The joint exhibition of more than ten journals formed an important part of the Alliance’s regular efforts in brand promotion and resource coordination. With the conference’s large attendance and strong academic atmosphere, participating journals were able to engage directly with experts in the field, frontline researchers, and young scholars. This helped expand their reach, enhance their visibility, and provide closer insight into disciplinary frontiers and research trends, offering useful reference directions for column design and topic planning.
Since its establishment, the Alliance has served as a collaborative platform for its member journals, working to address common challenges in journal development and promote shared growth. Drawing on the portfolio-based operating experience of the SJTU Journal Center, it enables member journals to benefit from closer collaboration, encouraging the sharing of resources, expertise, and best practices. In its daily work, the Alliance organizes editorial exchanges and professional training to strengthen editorial teams; coordinates academic experts and editorial board resources to support improvements in peer review and manuscript quality. The Alliance leverages shared communication networks and external partnerships to enhance journal visibility, support content development, and promote international collaboration. These efforts help reduce operating costs for individual journals and address common challenges faced by small and medium-sized journals.
For the Alliance, this model of joint participation and collaborative operation has strengthened connections among member journals and fostered new opportunities for future growth. For individual member journals, the Alliance provides comprehensive support across editorial capacity building, author engagement, peer review, journal promotion, and external partnerships, helping to strengthen operational effectiveness, enhance publication quality, and expand scholarly impact.
Looking ahead, the Alliance will continue to uphold its service mission, stay rooted in the distinctive strengths of medical-engineering interdisciplinarity, and further refine its services and collaboration model. It will continue to use high-level academic conferences as regular platforms for joint display and exchange, helping journals connect with high-quality academic resources. At the same time, it will deepen internal collaborative services, with sustained efforts in key areas such as editorial capacity building, the solicitation of high-quality manuscripts, editorial board development, and standardized journal management. Working alongside all member journals, the Alliance will steadily enhance academic quality and professional influence, strive to build a distinctive and efficient journal cluster in the medical-engineering interdisciplinary field, and contribute practical strength to the dissemination of academic achievements in biomedical engineering.
