The birth of Transknowletology is a milestone event in translation community, highlighting knowledge as the essence of translation. Knowledge can be seen in every step in translation process while translating is a process of producing, managing and disseminating knowledge. As the defining feature of translation, knowledge is the key element in translation studies and serves as a powerhouse supporting and facilitating the research of translation. With obvious international trait, Transknowletology, among all Chinese translation theories, is in a dominant position like a “vine” on which other theories grow as “melons”.
