An Algorithm for Phase Noise Mitigation in High-Frequency OFDM |

Abstract The increasing of phase noise in high-frequency orthogonal frequency division multiplexing wireless communication system degrades the system performance. A joint channel transfer function and phase noise estimation algorithm with low pilot consumption was proposed to resolve the conflict. By analyzing the characteristics of channel transfer function and phase noise, the algorithm is divided into two steps: on OFDM pilot time-slot, estimate channel transfer function and phase noise; on pilot sub-carriers, estimate phase noise continuously to eliminate inter-carrier interference caused by it, assuming the channel is constant. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can eliminate phase noise effectively in a heavy phase noise condition.
