Abstract Numerical Analysis of Reinforcement Effect of ZPins with
Abstract: A 3D finite element model was proposed to simulate a single Zpin for pullout test and for unpinned/Zpinned double cantilever beam (DCB) test. Static and sliding friction coefficients were used to simulate the debonding and pullout process of the Zpin. Connectors were used in the DCB model to simulate the bridging effect of the Zpins with the bridging curves calculated by the pullout model as input data. The bridging curves of the Z-pin with specialshaped crosssection for the pullout test and the loaddisplacement curves for the DCB test were calculated based on the proposed finite element model. The effect of the cross section perimeter of Zpin on the maximum bridging load was also discussed in detail. The simulation results were in good agreement with the experimental data.
