Constitutive Model of Hydroforming and Its Numerical Validation Based on Three-Dimensional Hill’48 Yield Criterion |

Abstract Based on the three-dimensional Hill’48 anisotropic yield criterion, a mechanical model was developed to describe hydroforming process, which combines the semi-implicit backward Euler stress integration method and the explicit finite element solving algorithm. The three-dimensional Hill’48 yield criterion was implemented in the commercial finite element software LS-DYNA by using user defined material models UMAT. This algorithm was validated by the tensile test of single element. Besides, it was applied to the numerical simulation of hydraulic bulging to analyze the difference between Hill’48 anisotropic yield criterion and Mises isotropic yield criterion. The numerical results show that the implemented constitutive model is proper and it can reveal the deformation rule of tube bulging reasonably.
