Abstract Precision guidance weapons play an important role in modern war. In this paper, basic concepts and roles of precision guidance weapons, precision guidance systems and precision guidance technologies are introduced briefly. The developing requirements for future precision homing terminal guidance system and technology are reviewed. Furthermore, possible approaches to meet the requirements of future precision homing terminal guidance system are introduced. And the challenges for the realization of future precision homing terminal guidance system are analyzed.
