From January 7 to 9, 2024, Harbin played host to the successful Second Forum on Excellence in Journal Construction in Colleges and Universities, organized by the University Alliance for Excellent Journals (UAEJ) and hosted by the prestigious Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT). The forum's primary goal was to establish a robust communication platform for university journal management professionals, fostering in-depth discussions on the construction, development, and top-level design of outstanding journals. By facilitating the exchange of experiences in university journal management, the forum effectively contributed to the promotion and advancement of university journals' development and construction.
Representatives from more than 40 esteemed institutions, including Tsinghua University, Zhejiang University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Beihang University, Xi'an Jiaotong University, Tongji University, Shandong University, Chongqing University, Sichuan University, Central South University, Tianjin University, China University of Mining and Technology, University of Science and Technology Beijing, Harbin Institute of Technology, and others, actively participated in the event. Notable attendees included Liu Xingping, Director of the Science and Technology Innovation Department of the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), Wang Su, Director of the Science and Technology Journal Department, and Wang Chunhui, Director of the Publication Department of the Propaganda Department of Heilongjiang Provincial Party Committee. The conference received distinguished guests like Elsevier and the support of key sponsors such as E-Tiller, K.Z. Science, and Founder. The opening ceremony, conducted by Professor Li Longqiu, Director of the Journal Center at HIT, marked the commencement of conference.
Shuai Yong, Standing Committee member of the Party Committee and Vice President of HIT, extended a warm welcome to the attending experts and scholars in his address. He provided a concise overview of the journal management concept and the present state of journal construction at HIT. Shuai Yong expressed the institute's commitment to enhancing collaboration with the CAST, Publication Division of the Propaganda Department of Heilongjiang Province, and all affiliated institutions within the Alliance. The aim is to elevate the quality of journal management and strengthen the university's influence in international academic discourse.
In her address, Wang Su emphasized the significance of university journals within the realm of scientific and technological publications. She highlighted the enduring importance that the CAST places on the endeavors related to university journals. Wang Su expressed her hope that the Alliance for Excellence in University Journals Construction would continue to play a pivotal role in fostering the development and clustering of university journals, contributing significantly to this essential facet of academic discourse.
