    JMA Successfully Passes Evaluation for the "China's Excellence Action Plan for New High-Starting Point Journals"

  • After more than two months of expert group evaluation, the Journal of Management Analytics (JMA) has successfully passed the evaluation for the "China's Excellence Action Plan for New High-Starting Point Journals."

    The "China's Excellence Action Plan for Scientific Journals" was jointly launched in 2019 by the China Association for Science and Technology, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the National Press and Publication Administration, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the Chinese Academy of Engineering. This initiative, with a five-year cycle, aims to build a support system for the national scientific journal ecosystem and is the largest, most well-funded, and most wide-ranging major support project in the field of scientific journals in China to date. The key task of the "New High-Starting Point Journals" sub-project is to select and establish high-standard English-language scientific journals in traditional advantages, emerging interdisciplinary fields, strategic frontiers, and key common technologies.

    In 2021, JMA was selected for the "China's Excellence Action Plan for New High-Starting Point Journals." In the following years, the JMA editorial board and editorial team adhered to rigorous academic standards and a relentless pursuit of excellence, continuously improving the journal's quality and enhancing its international impact. As an academic journal with full independent copyright owned by Shanghai Jiao Tong University, JMA has received strong support from the university since its inception. The journal has achieved professional, high-quality development in areas such as journal operation and brand building, and has achieved remarkable results in the past five years:

    • In 2021, JMA was indexed by SSCI, becoming the 13th journal in China to be included. The average number of citations per paper reached 16, and its impact factor remained in the Q1 zone.
    • The journal's CiteScore reached 13.3, placing it in the top 1% of its subfield.
    • In 2022, JMA was included in the FMS List of Recommended High-Quality Journals in Management Science.
    • In the 2023 CAS Journal Ranking, it entered the second tier in the broad category of Management Science.
    • In 2023, it was recognized as a core journal in the "2022 Annual AMI Comprehensive Evaluation of Chinese Humanities and Social Sciences Journals" in the foreign language journal category.
    • JMA was also recognized as one of "China's Most Internationally Influential Academic Journals" in the 2023 edition of the "Annual Report on International Citation of Chinese Academic Journals."

    Looking ahead, JMA will build on its momentum, actively seek change, continue to focus on Data Analytics, support emerging interdisciplinary fields in management science, enhance research in management science based on data analysis and digital technology, expand its international academic influence in the field of business data science, and strive to build a world-class academic journal brand in management data science. This will better serve the construction of China as a strong scientific and technological nation.
