毛泽东诗词的翻译是文化交流的重要活动。当前的国际文化新环境,给我们提供了或许能传译毛泽东诗词中更多文化信息的新机会。我们应该把毛泽东的七言律绝翻译成诗行有固定长度而又遵守英诗传统节律的作品(比如六音步、12-13音节)、并且贯彻原作一韵到底的用韵方式,以求尽量如实地向国际读者展示汉语近体诗的独特魅力。这是一种追求汉英特色更完美合璧的译诗创新。应该相信,国际英语读者会逐渐接受这种方式的译文。
The new environment of international culture today provides us with potential new chances to convey in translation more cultural information of Mao Zedong poems. It is desirable to translate them (here, the seven sinogram octaves and quatrains) into artefacts with fixed verse length and conformity to traditional English metres (e.g. 12 13 syllables in 6 feet), but using only one rhyme in each piece, in order to demonstrate to international readers more substantially the unique charms of classical Chinese poetry. This is an innovation in poetry translation for more perfection by appropriately combining Chinese with English elements; and credibly the international English readers will gradually accept such a form of translation.
