明托金字塔原理是芭芭拉·明托提出的关于篇章组织的写作理念。通过使用金字塔结构,作者可以运用问题-解决模板完成引言部分和主体写作并概括杂乱的内容。本文讨论了如何将明托金字塔原理引入英语学术演讲课程来解决学生演讲中存在的突出问题,其中包括题目不恰当、结构松散导致重点不突出、主旨信息不够高度概括和准确。将教学干预前后两次演讲大纲作为语料进行分析和评阅,并用SPSS对评阅分数进行了分析处理,数据表明明托金字塔原理对以上问题的改善有显著的作用。在目前英语学术演讲教材和文献匮乏的状况下,金字塔原理提供了非常实用的模板和检测依据,易于在短时间内学习和操作, 对于英语学术演讲具有重大的价值。
Minto Pyramid, proposed by Barbara Minto, is a way to organize the overall structure of a writing. Through the use of a pyramid structure, writers can introduce the subject matter and complete the body part with a question-solution template and effectively summarize the grouping of ideas. This paper discusses the incorporation of Minto Pyramid into English academic presentation course, thus solving some of the obvious problems students have, including inadequate topics, loose structure and less concise summary statements. Two outlines,written by the same group of students before and after the teacher's intervention, are analyzed and rated. The data processed by SPSS indicates the remarkable effect of Minto Pyramid on teaching. Currently when textbooks and documentation on English academic presentation are in great shortage, Minto Pyramid is of great value, which is easy to learn and practice as it offers practical templates and testing principles.
