大多数学者在讨论英语本科专业所面临的严重问题时并没有跳出传统的思维框架,没有意识到英语专业已经发展到了一个新高度,所出现的问题不是语言教学问题,而是英语专业的本科建设问题。解决英语本科专业所出现的“毛病”,要从如何理解和构建该专业的大学本科性出发。
The discussion of the problems the English major faces has been trapped in the paradigm of language teaching. It has ignored the fact that the English major in China has reached such a phase that it has to develop a system of knowledge that befits the purposes and the standards of tertiary education. The so-called “ailments” are in fact not the problems of language teaching.
