摘要

Averil Coxhead博士的新作《词汇和专门用途英语研究:定量及定性视角》从定量和定性两个视角论述了专门用途英语(ESP)研究中的词汇问题,按照不同领域(如学术英语和行业英语等)分析了ESP词汇研究的现状,最后指出ESP词汇研究的发展方向。本文介绍了该书的主要内容,并对其学术价值进行了评价,以期为国内ESP词汇研究提供参考。

Abstract

Vocabulary and English for Specific Purposes Research: Quantitative and Qualitative Perspectives, written by Doctor Averil Coxhead, focuses on combining vocabulary issues and ESP research in various fields such as EAP (English for Academic Purposes) and EOP (English for Occupational Purposes) from quantitative and qualitative perspectives. Based on a comprehensive review of current ESP vocabulary research, the author indicates its future direction. The main content of the book was introduced and its implications discussed in this paper in order to shed light on domestic ESP vocabulary research.
