Abstract In order to solve the problem that traditional DOA estimation algorithm cannot achieve high precision estimation in the environment of strong impulsivde noise, a two-dimensional DOA estimation algorithm based on a new correntropy-based covariance matrix (CBCM) is proposed. The new correlation entropy covariance matrix is used to replace the autocorrelation function in the traditional subspace algorithm, and the suppression effect of correlation entropy on impulsive noise is fully applied to the field of DOA estimation, and the two-dimensional angle estimation in uniform circular array is realized by combining the rotating invariant subspace algorithm (ESPRIT). Computer simulation result shows that the proposed algorithm can accurately estimate the azimuth angle and pitch angle of the source. Compared with other algorithms, the proposed algorithm can maintain the advantages of high accuracy and low error in extremely high impulsive noise environments along with low generalized signal to noise ratio (GSNR) levels and few available snapshots.
