Shanghai Jiao Tong University publishes almost 80 peer-reviewed journals in the humanities, social sciences, law, science, engineering, and medicine. Journal Center prides itself on being both a part of and a partner in the academic community, Which is established in 2015. A department of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Journal Center draws on a prestigious research heritage and a deep understanding of the wants and needs of researchers and academics. It furthers the University's objective of excellence in research, scholarship, and education by collaborating with world leading publishers. An integral part of Journal Center’s scholarly mission is to publish journals of the highest quality with the greatest impact, presenting innovative research that furthers future advances. As a supporter of OA2020 initiative, We are also deeply engaged in efforts to establish sustainable approaches to Open Access, which increase the accessibility of research while protecting academic quality and scholarly independence. Additionally, we actively engage with the global publishing community through our membership in the ALPSP (Association of Learned and Professional Society Publishers), fostering connections with international publishing industry associations and standardization organizations.
Shanghai Jiao Tong University currently publishes and co-publishes a total of 77 journals, comprising 44 English-language journals, 31 Chinese-language journals, and 2 bilingual journals (one in Chinese-English, the other in Chinese-French). These include 60 STM (Science, Technology, and Medicine) journals and 17 social science journals. Notably, we have 12 journals indexed by SCI/SSCI (Science Citation Index/Social Science Citation Index) and 7 journals indexed by ESCI (Emerging Sources Citation Index). Many of our journals are also indexed by reputable databases such as Scopus, DOAJ (Directory of Open Access Journals), and CSSCI (Chinese Social Science Citation Index).
Our approach involves providing guidance to support discipline development, collaborating with and guiding the editorial offices of Shanghai Jiao Tong University. We aim to enhance optimized coordinated development within a region that boasts a dense cluster of journals. Additionally, we are dedicated to formulating a long-term strategic development plan to sustain top university journals, positioning them to compete effectively with global counterparts.
Our strategy involves the creation of new journals at elevated standards, with a focus on developing distinctive journals that can stand out internationally. From a perspective standpoint, we emphasize the development of digital platforms, aiming to establish an academic journal brand for Jiao Tong University with a global outlook. Our ultimate goal is to build a journal group of considerable scale and high academic competitiveness. This group will cover multidisciplinary areas, effectively reflecting the academic strengths of Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
