  • On January 9-10, 2025 — The Mechanobiology in Medicine (MBM) organized the Orthopaedic Journals Forum during the Symposium on Advanced Technologies in Orthopaedics. Leading orthopaedic journals, including Bone ResearchJournal of Orthopaedic Translation, and Orthopedic Surgery, gathered to discuss the critical role of journals in foundational research and in driving innovation in emerging orthopaedic technologies.

The forum spearheaded a transformative integration of foundational and clinical research, facilitating cross-disciplinary dialogues that propelled medical scholarship forward. Notably, the event featured keynote contributions from internationally renowned experts from Germany and Australia, whose participation enriched deliberations with global perspectives and cutting-edge scientific paradigms. Delegates engaged in in-depth discussions on the latest technological advancements and the development directions of journals within the academic ecosystem.

Dr. Pan Fei, Director’s Assistant of the Shanghai Jiao Tong University Journal Center, delivered the forum’s opening remarks. He extended heartfelt congratulations on the successful convening of the forum and elaborated on the proactive initiatives of the SJTU Journal Center to advance scholarly innovation. To catalyze interdisciplinary integration, the SJTU Journal Center has implemented a multifaceted strategy — including the establishment of a Medicine-Engineering Interdisciplinary Journal Alliance and the deployment of big data analytic to evaluate journal performance metrics. These efforts aim to pioneer new pathways for academic publishing while fostering a dynamic, open, and collaborative ecosystem that aligns with global research paradigms.

Delegates at the conference engaged in extensive deliberations on strategies for academic journals to drive innovation in clinical technologies. These discussions culminated in a series of consensus outcomes, which not only clarified the direction for the future development of journals in the medical field but also laid a solid theoretical foundation for the innovation and progress of medical technologies.
