Abstract: Objective To explore the effectiveness of extended nursing intervention on improving health outcome of children with cleft lip and palate. Methods From February 2017 to February 2018, 90 children received cleft lip and palate treatment were selected, and were divided into control group and experimental group according to a convenient grouping method. There were 45 cases in each group. Children in control group were treated with conventional nursing method, while children in experimental group were treated with extended nursing intervention method. Results The incidence of postoperative complications, the SDS and SAS scores in the experimental group were all lower than in the control group (P<0.05). The degree of satisfaction in family nursing care in the experimental group was higher than in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion The application of extended nursing intervention on children with cleft lip and palate can reduce the probability of postoperative complications, improve their family's nursing care ability, and is worthy of clinical promotion.
