Abstract

Objective To design a comic-style health education pamphlet on infants' postoperative care after hand surgery, and to investigate its clinical application. Methods Sixty child patients who received reconstructive hand surgery were included. In accordance with the random number table, the patients were divided into 2 groups with thirty patients each:experimental group and control group. The control group was treated with traditional oral health education, while the experimental group was introduced an additional comic-style pamphlet regarding postoperative care. Parents' feedbacks of two groups were compared and analyzed. Results The parents of the experimental group mastered the contents of postoperative education significantly better than the control group (P<0.05), and the difference was statistically significant. Conclusion Compared with traditional oral-only health education, the comic-style education pamphlet is a better way to enhance parents'understanding and memorizing of postoperative care.
