Abstract

Symptomatic scars can cause appearance disfigurements and functional damages. Beyond that, scars may be associated with a lot of physical comorbidities including hypertrichosis, dyshidrosis, pain, pruritus, dysesthesias, and functional impairments. Although a plethora of scar treatment exists, specific management guidelines for the pediatric populations do not. New modalities such as composite scar treatment, autologous fat transfer, and ablative fractional laser suggest a promising future for children who developed symptomatic scars. In this paper, state-of-the-art scar treatment strategies relate to the pediatric populations were reviewed.
