The Postoperative Comparison of the Auricular Reconstruction Between the Dilator Method Retaining the Superficial Temporal Fascia and the Posterior Ear Fascial Flap Method

Abstract

Objective To compare the clinical effects of the auricular reconstruction between the dilator method retaining the superficial temporal fascia and the posterior ear fascial flap method .

Methods From January 2010 to January 2019, the clinical data of 118 patients with microtia was retrospectively analyzed and the patients were divided into experimental group (n=105) and control group (n=13) according to the different operation method. In the experimental group, three-stage auricular reconstruction technique retaining the superficial temporal fascia was performed. In the control group, the two-stage ear reconstruction using the postauricular fascial flap was performed. The patients were followed regularly after the surgery, and the surgical effect, satisfaction rate, incidence of complications of the two groups were evaluated.

Results Statistical analysis showed that there were no statistically significant differences between the experimental group and the control group in terms of postoperative satisfaction, postoperative complication rate of skin problems and surgical effect (P>0.05), but the incidence of postoperative scar was significantly different between the two groups (P<0.05).

Conclusion The three-stage auricular reconstruction surgery with retained superficial temporal fascia shows good postoperative effect, and the scar is not obvious, which is worthy of clinical application.
