Abstract The air defence missile with a command guidance system is affected by the radar tracking error and the manoeuvring uncertainty of the incoming target. It is challenging to obtain high-precision guidance information to achieve high hit accuracy. To resolve this problem, this paper proposed a guidance information extraction algorithm using radar relative measurement. Firstly, the relative measurement error model of radar was established using the mechanism of strong correlation and small relative error between radar and target and missile measurement information system under the relative measurement system. Secondly, according to the difference in target, missile motion characteristics and measurement information, the unscented Kalman filter (UKF) method was adopted to construct the target information filtering algorithm based on the "current statistical model" and the missile motion information estimation method based on the inertial measurement information. The launch coordinate system obtained the target and the missile's position, velocity, and other motion information. Finally, the estimated information was used to reconstruct the angular rate information of the missile-eye line of sight. The simulation results show that this method can effectively reduce the influence of radar measurement error and target manoeuvre on the extraction of line-of-sight angular rate and can precisely extract guidance information.
