Abstract:

Since the 21st century, the study of foreign literature has continuously expanded its academic extension. There have been great breakthroughs in research fields and research methods, but there are also some problems worth pondering. In order to achieve a better development in the field of foreign literary studies and to serve the development needs of national interests, this article summarizes several development trends in the field of foreign literary studies in the 21st lentury, sorts out the problems in foreign literary studies in China, and proposes corresponding countermeasures. Specifically, the proportion of foreign literature courses for students should be increased, and the foreign language majors should be strengthened in Chinese history, culture, language and literature. At the same time, it is necessary to work hard to explore new models of cross literary, cross media, cross cultural, and transnational foreign literary studies , and pay more attention to transnational writings. Finally, we should focus on exploring the innovation of foreign language and literary studies methods, draw on the successful research experience of other disciplines, broaden the new path of foreign literary studies and other disciplines, carry out interdisciplinary research, and form a methodology with Chinese characteristics from a cross cultural perspective.
