摘要： 元话语使新闻报道的行文流畅,结构清晰,同时也能帮助新闻评论的作者投射自我观点,更好地建立其与读者之间的互动关系,使语篇更具说服力。本文选取英语新闻报道和新闻评论各30篇,对比分析元话语在这两种新闻体裁中使用的异同,并探讨其异同存在的多种可能原因,以期丰富元话语的应用研究,同时对英语新闻的读写译有所帮助。

Abstract: Metadiscourse plays a vital role in both English news reporting and commentary, which makes news reporting more coherent and fluent and at the same time helps news commentary writers to better project themselves into their writing and build a good relationship with their readers to make their voices more acceptable and persuasive. This paper is based on a corpus of metadiscourse in 30 English news reportings and 30 news commentaries to explore the similarities and differences of the use of metadiscourse in them. It is hoped to shed some lights on the practical research on metadiscourse as well as the reading,writing and translation of English news.
