本文辨析“身份”和“角色”二术语的不同,展示译者在翻译过程中所呈现的角色特征,即角色化过程。该角色化过程在翻译活动尤其在应用翻译活动中表现得特别明显。当文学成了译者处置的对象时,文学翻译也便成了应用翻译的一部分。译者不全是译者,他成了利益的一方。为了最大限度地实现“译以致用”的效果,译者也随之进入了角色化的过程。认清译者角色化现象,将有功于翻译批评的客观和理性。
On the basis of a discrimination between the two terms “Identity” and “Role”, the paper expounds the translator’s different roles in the translating process, in which the display of these roles by the translator is the translator’s role shifting process. A full awareness of the nature of this process will immensely contribute to an objective and rational translation criticism. The paper is also devoted to a detailed discussion of the relationship between translator’s role shifting behaviors and the diversity of translations.
