Abstract: The aim of translation determines translation strategy. Lu Xun’s translation aim was dual in nature, i.e., to enlighten and to transfer feelings. To achieve them, Lu Xun devised dual textual structures in his translations and adopted different translation strategies according to different readerships. The first can be named as complicated structures which reflect the source language structures and aim for intellectual readers while the second can be termed as plain structures which turn out readable and fluent versions and aim for average youth readers. The strategy to produce complicated structures is to resort to strict literal translation while the strategy to get plain structures is to use transposition. The employment of the dual structures in his translations embodies Lu Xun’s clear readership consciousness and caters to his pursue of enlightenment and empathy.
