Consciousness of Theories, Problems and Value Judgment in Dissertation Topic Selection: Reviewing the Fourth National Forum for PhD Candidates in Translation Studies

Abstract: The fourth National Forum for PhD Candidates in Translation Studies, co-sponsored by Shanghai Jiao Tong University, the editorial department of Chinese Translators journal, and the Translators Association of China, was successfully held in Shanghai Jiao Tong University on November 4-5, 2017. A total of 25 doctoral supervisors and nearly 200 PhD candidates from higher education institutions of the Mainland of China, Hong Kong and Macao attended this forum. They shared views on the consciousness of theories, problems and judgment of values in dissertation topic selection. The heated discussion was concluded with positive results, exerting far-reaching influences upon talent cultivation in translation studies and the development of the discipline.
