This paper is originated from an interview with Dr. Peter de Costa on the topic of academic English writing and international publication. From the perspective of his multiple roles as a writer, reviewer and journal editor, Dr. Costa shares his experiences on the selection of target journal, language polishing, rhetorical consideration and paper submission. At the same time, the article put forward the 4C principles on how to carry out academic communications, promote academic cooperation, benefit from academic conferences and join the academic community. This paper aims to help academic novices familiarize with the practice of academic English writing and international publications, and support their development through the academic community.
