“Taiwan Wenti” has three versions in the domestic and overseas media reports and academic works, namely, “he Taiwan question”, “the Taiwan problem” and “the Taiwan issue”. In The Selected Works of Jiang Zemin, “Taiwan Wenti” has a unified version, “the Taiwan question” or “the question of Taiwan”. Based on the brief revision of the history of “Taiwan Wenti” and a discussion of the synonyms “question”, “problem” and “issue”, it is held that ideology, among other things, manipulates the choice of words in the translation. Meanwhile, it is suggested that reports on China issues made by western media must not be adopted indiscriminately.
