Application of Medial Plantar Flap in the Repair of Peri-Ankle Soft Tissue Defects

Abstract

Abstract: Objective To investigate the application of medial plantar flap in the repair of peri-ankle soft tissue defects.Methods From September 2014 to September 2018,a total of 9 cases with peri-ankle soft tissue defects were included in this retrospective study.The defects were located in the inner ankle(n=6)and anterior ankle(n=3).The size of the defects varied from 5 cm×4 cm to 10 cm×8 cm.Results All flaps and skin grafts survived well.Patients were followed up for 6-24 months,all flaps had good color,texture and protective sensation.All patients were able to walk pain-free in normal shoes.Conclusion Medial plantar flap is a good choice for repairing the small to medium size defects around ankle.
