Open Reduction and Internal Fixation for the Treatment of Calcaneal Fractures(Sanders Ⅱ Type and Ⅲ Type)

Abstract: Objective To explore the efficiency of the open reduction and internal fixation for the treatment of calcaneal fractures.Methods Twenty four patients of calcaneal fractures on 27 feet(Sanders Ⅱ type:8 feet,Ⅲ type:19 feet) were all done the open reduction and fixation with bone grafting of autogenous iliac.Results The patients were followed up for 6-20 months,mean 13.4 months.There was no delayed union or nonunion,and 95% of the patients(Sanders Ⅱ type:97%,Sanders Ⅲ type:93%) got good results according to Maryland for foot scoring.Conclusion Open reduction and fixation with bone grafting is an effective method for the treatment of calcaneal fractures.
