Abstract:

Objective To review the imaging features of intramuscular venous malformations (IMVMs) and to explore the
guiding significance of imaging findings for the selection and implementation of treatment methods. Methods From January
2006 to December 2021, 67 patients with IMVMs were treated in our department. The general data, clinical manifestations and
imaging findings of the patients were retrospectively analyzed. The imaging methods were classified and evaluated, and the main
diagnostic points of IMVMs were summarized. Individualized treatment strategies were proposed according to imaging features.
Results A total of 67 patients were included in this study, including 43 males. The patient complained of pain, swelling
and limb dysfunction. The imaging examinations used included ultrasound, MRI/MRA, X-ray, CT/CTA/CTV, percutaneous
angiography and three-dimensional CT imaging, etc. The above examination methods can show the location and morphology
of the venous malformations, bony changes, draining features, hemodynamic characteristics, etc., so as to effectively guide the
formulation of individual treatment strategies. Conclusion The diagnosis of IMVMs depends on comprehensive and accurate
imaging examinations, and the examination results are of guiding significance for the selection of appropriate treatment methods,
the reasonable implementation of treatment, the avoidance of complications and the improvement of treatment effect.
