Abstract:

Skin typing is a common method for describing skin characteristics. Traditional skin typing methods （such as

the Fitzpatrick Skin Phototype and Baumann Skin Typing） have their own advantages and disadvantages. However， the above

skin typing methods rely on subjective judgement， lacking quantitative analysis of skin objective parameters. In recent years，

the measurement technology of objective parameters such as sebum secretion and transepidermal water loss has made great

progress， making it possible to describe skin types with objective parameters. Additionally， image recognition technology

based on facial photos can extract facial skin features and provide a basis for skin typing. This article reviewed subjective skin

typing methods， skin objective parameter detection， and skin analysis technology based on image recognition， and discussed

the development process of skin typing from qualitative-quantitative-visualization， in order to provide a theoretical basis for

objective and precise skin typing in the future.
