Abstract

Objective To investigate the influence of propranolol on VEGF, bFGF and MMP-9 in serum samples in the treatment of proliferative hemangioma. Methods Forty children with proliferative hemangioma were enrolled and treated with propranolol. The VEGF, bFGF and MMP-9 in serum samples were detected with ELISA assay before and 8 weeks after propranolol treatment. Results After 8 weeks of treatment, the concentration levels of VEGF, bFGF and MMP-9 in serum were obviously decreased, and the differences were significant. Conclusion The decrease on the expression of VEGF, bFGF and MMP-9 may play an important role in the treatment of proliferative hemangioma.
