Abstract

Objective To explore the feasibility of quantitative analysis of survival rate of facial fat graft by CT tomography.

Methods From December 2015 to March 2016, 8 patients who underwent facial fat filling were included in the study. Facial CT scan was performed before, 4 weeks and 12 weeks after surgery, respectively. Then the area of grafted fat tissue (regions of interest, ROI) was measured and statistically analyzed, and relative value of fat survival was calculated.

Results CT tomography imaging can clearly show the level of fat in the filling area of the face. The ROI of fat transplantation area before, 4 weeks and 12 weeks after surgery was 4.61±1.32, 9.17±2.01 and 7.60±1.47, respectively. Statistical result showed that ROI at 12 weeks and 4 weeks after surgery were both significantly higher than that before surgery (P<0.05), but ROI at 12 weeks and 4 weeks after surgery showed no significant difference (P>0.05). Compared with 4 weeks after surgery, the survival value of transplanted fat at 12 weeks after surgery was 65.57%±10.27%.

Conclusion The technique of CT tomography imaging can be used as a method of quantitative analysis for survival rate of facial fat graft.
