Abstract Informatization and Unmanned war is the development trend of the future battlefield, and the complex and variable characteristics of the battlefield environment make satellite positioning signals such as GPS positioning or Beidou positioning unable to pass to the local environment of the battlefield. Ultra-wideband (UWB) positioning technology has the advantages of strong anti-noise ability, high multipath resolution and penetration. This paper proposes the application of ultra-wideband (UWB) positioning technology to the local environment of the battlefield. According to the characteristics of the local environment of the battlefield, a localized positioning system based on signal arrival time location (TOA) is proposed to solve the problem of local environment of the battlefield without GPS or satellite positioning signal. It is proposed to use the full centroid algorithm to solve the unique coordinates of the target node, and use the method of quadratic calculation to improve the positioning accuracy. The numerical simulation experiment is carried out by using Matlab software. When the UWB ranging error is 0 and the variance is 400 mm2, the positioning error of the positioning system in x direction is within 0.03 m and the positioning error in y direction is within 0.06 m, and the positioning error in z direction is within 0.09 m, which verifies the feasibility of the positioning method.
