摘要： 编写于16世纪末叶的《葡汉词典》(Dicionário Português-Chinês)是已知最早的欧汉双语词典稿本,载有近代葡汉两种语言文字的珍贵史料。近代中西词汇的大规模接触便始于此。早期西洋人学习汉语的努力、中国人把握西方语言的尝试、欧汉双语词典编纂的起步,以及中西文化、经济、技术接触之始的景象等,都可从这部词典中约略窥知。

Abstract: The Dicionário Português-Chinês, a manuscript dated to the 1580s and preserved in the Archives of the Society of Jesus in Rome, is believed to be the earliest European-Chinese dictionary with both Chinese and Portuguese wordstocks, testifying to the earlier contact between China and Europe in the late 16th century. Based on a comprehensive interpretation of around 6000 Portuguese entries and their Chinese translation equivalents, the paper shows how words could serve as extensive evidence of history, vividly recording various aspects of China's social life in the late Ming-Dynasty.
