Abstract: The present article studies the status of English and the characteristics, the current state of affairs and the existing problems of English education in China, proposes the goal of development, including the goal of cultivating highly qualified English majors, and finally put forward the ways of designing the reform and the methods and measures for the development of English education in China. We argue that English education need to be developed, reformed, and planned, and need to take actual measures and actions for its future development.
