A Usage-based Perspective for the Training of Reading Skills

Abstract: Over the past half century, the reading skill in college English has been a major concern of higher education in China. The present study emphasizes the important role of phrases and idioms for English reading in general and deep reading in particular. To meet this end, a framework of cognitive linguistics and construction grammar has been adopted in this paper.
