The Influence of Inhibitory Mechanism in Working Memory on Chinese EFL Learners' Processing of Syntactic Ambiguity

Abstract: Syntactic ambiguity exists at all linguistic levels. The study of syntactic ambiguity sentences can reveal the psychological cognitive process in language analysis, which can shed lights on foreign language teaching, artificial intelligence and psychological cognitive science. The present research, focusing on the Inhibitory Mechanism involved in working memory and syntactic ambiguity sentence processing, probes into the influence of Inhibitory Mechanism on the processing of English syntactic ambiguity sentences, analyzes the causes underlying the processing and unveils the functions of Inhibitory Mechanism in language comprehension.
